ABOUT THIS IMMERSION

The Embodied Consciousness Immersion is a six-day deep dive into exploring consciousness through the lens of somatic psychology, social justice, and spirituality and is led by world-renowned somatic facilitators and leaders of applied spiritual wisdom including: Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Dr. Scott Lyons, Dr. Michael Beckwith, Dr. Rae Johnson, Dr. Theresa Silow, Rev. angel Kyodo Williams, Tara Judelle, Dr. Judith Blackstone, and Sally Kempton.

This immersion invites participants to move beyond the research and theory of consciousness and to step directly into the felt sense of it.

Join us for a week of movement, meditation, lectures, yoga, and dynamic practices in both group and partner work. Throughout this immersion, we will address developmental, socio-cultural, and psychosomatic dynamics that impact our ability to experience wholeness and aliveness throughout our life. We will introduce and utilize a range of tools from Body-Mind Centering®, Somatic Experiencing, Focusing Technique, Nondual Tantric Philosophy, Embodied Flow™, Life Visioning Process, Breathwork, Realization Process®, and Hakomi method to attune to our inner landscape and help cultivate self-awareness, agency, resilience, and purpose. Ultimately, these embodied practices create and cultivate bridges of interconnection to others, ourselves, the environment, and beyond.

This week will provide you with practical tools in working with yourself and others towards living a life in deep connection and relationship, moving us ever closer to a world that is beyond false division — one that is consciously embodied.

MEET YOUR TEACHERS

 

Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen

Bonnie is a movement artist, researcher, educator, therapist and developer of the Body-Mind Centering® approach to movement and consciousness- an exploration of how we embody our body systems, tissues and cells, and our developmental movement patterns and embryology. Her work has influenced the fields of dance, bodywork, yoga, body psychotherapy, infant and child development. She is the author of several celebrated books and DVDs on dance, embodied anatomy and working with children and special needs.

Sally Kempton

Sally is an author, a meditation teacher, and a workshop / retreat leader. Sally is also the author of the hugely popular books “Meditation for the Love of It” and “Awakening Shakti”. She teaches meditation as a process of inner exploration, in which we learn to integrate heart, mind and body in order to experience our natural state of wisdom and love. Sally also offers a wide variety of classes on yogic wisdom texts, as well as hands-on, contemplative practices for moving through psychological obstructions, understanding the intricacies of inner life, and how to apply spiritual principles to relationships, work, and life in our time.

Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith

Dr. Beckwith is a sought after meditation teacher, conference speaker, and creator of the Life Visioning Process™. He is also the founder and spiritual director of the Agape International Spiritual Center based in Los Angeles, CA offering countless local outreach and humanitarian programs worldwide. Through his teachings on the science of inner-transformation, Dr. Beckwith embraces a practical approach to spirituality that acknowledges the accelerated pace of our contemporary times.

Dr. Scott Lyons

Dr. Scott Lyons is dedicated to teaching embodiment as a way of exploring human development, healing and transformation. Scott is the co-creator of Embodied Flow™, a Clinical Psychologist and Mind-Body Medicine practitioner. Additionally, Scott is a Certified Body-Mind Centering® Teacher, Cranio-Sacral Therapist, Visceral Manipulation Therapist, Infant Developmental Movement Educator, Movement Therapist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Clinical Hypnotherapist, Mindfulness-based Executive Coach, and Focusing Practitioner.

 

Dr. Judith Blackstone

Judith Blackstone, PhD, is an innovative spiritual teacher and a licensed psychotherapist in New York with forty years of clinical experience. She developed the Realization Process, a method of embodied psychological and relational healing and nondual spiritual awakening. She is the author of Belonging Here, The Enlightenment Process, The Intimate Life, The Empathic Ground and Trauma and the Unbound Body. An audio series of the Realization Process is available from Sounds True.

Rev. angel Kyodo Williams

Author, activist, master trainer and founder of Transformative Change, angel Kyodo williams’ work has sparked connections & conversations that have confronted the most formidable impediments to justice & social transformation of our time. Her critically-acclaimed books, Being Black: Zen and the Art of Living With Fearlessness and Grace, and Radical Dharma: Talking Race, Love & Liberation have initiated profound healing and deepened commitment to dismantling oppression across lines of race, class, sexual orientation & other divides.

Dr. Rae Johnson

Rae Johnson, PhD, RSMT is a scholar, activist and registered somatic movement therapist who currently chairs the Somatic Studies specialization in the Department of Psychology doctoral program at Pacifica Graduate Institute. The author of several books – including Elemental Movement, Knowing in our Bones, and Embodied Social Justice – Rae teaches and trains internationally on embodied micro-aggressions, somatic research methods, and the poetic body.

Dr. Albert Wong

Dr. Albert Wong is the former Director of Somatic Psychology at JFK University and a leading clinician and educator in the field of somatics. A Marshall Scholar educated at Princeton and Oxford, Dr. Albert Wong has been honored for his work in psychotherapy by The Northern California Community for Emotion Focused Therapy, the American Psychological Association Psychoanalytic Division, and the Yale Psychoanalytic Research Training Program.

 
 

Tara Judelle

Tara Judelle is a world renowned yoga facilitator moved by bringing humans into their innate sense of freedom and purpose. After 30 years experimenting in all forms of movement, Tara co-created the School of Embodied Flow™ in 2014 to bring her current passions into a modern movement of Yoga. From a background in literature, film writing, directing and dance, Tara brings students on a journey of discovery of their numinous self through laughter, meditation, embodiment, movement & inquiry.

Dr. Theresa Silow

Theresa Silow, Ph.D., LPCC is Professor and Core Faculty (former Chair) in the Somatic Psychology Program at California Institute of Integral Studies. She holds a PhD in Somatic Studies from Ohio State University. A native of Germany, Theresa also teaches Somatic Psychology courses as adjunct faculty at Steinbeis Hochschule, Germany. Her private somatic psychotherapy practice in Santa Rosa is informed by somatic, developmental, attachment, psychoanalytic, and trauma theories and practices.
