ABOUT THIS MASTER CLASS
The more stressful life becomes, the more we may find ourselves doing things that are unhelpful, unhealthy, or just make things worse. Like staying up late at night looking at screens, or indulging in food-as-anesthetic. Self-disgust at these unhelpful behaviors becomes another stress that we have to escape from, and the cycle perpetuates. There is a way to pause and heal this cycle, that involves being a compassionate listener to both the part that does the behavior, and the part that's trying to use shame to stop and control it. Moving into the position of Self-in-Presence allows life choices to be made wisely and with flexibility, rather than being driven by the needs of parts.
In this Master Class, we will apply the somatic practice of Inner Relationship Focusing to cultivating the strong, compassionate self so unhelpful habits can be shifted without shame or self-blame. We will learn methods to support our clients who are struggling with numbing and distracting behaviors as well as the inner critics that make them feel bad without actually helping them stop. The result: An increase in self-acceptance and in the ability to make wise choices in life.
