THE POWER OF MIND-BODY COACHING
Mind-Body Coaching uses a holistic and client-centered approach that focuses on empowering individuals and groups' actualization of potential and embodied transformation. A Mind-Body Coach integrates the clarity of mindfulness-based work with the deep and impactful body-based techniques of somatics. They attune and utilize their many skills with a relational and process-oriented connection with their clients.
Mind-Body Coaches help their clients clarify their internal and external goals, navigate roadblocks to those goals, enhance the skills to be present in the here and now and future-oriented, and increase performance, effectiveness, and well-being.
Through a balance of depth processing and action-focused practices- Mind-Body Coaching empowers clients in addressing their obstructions to achieving their goals, realizing their life vision, transforming stuck patterns, and strengthening relationships. Mind-Body Coaches are compassionate and supportive guides through the journey of embodiment and self-actualization.

CURRICULUM
This 120-hour certificate program includes 8 Modules, all available to watch online and on-demand at your own pace. All sessions are available to be completed online via your online Content Library which you will gain access to upon registration.
THIS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO EIGHT MODULES:
Module 1: Foundations of Mind-Body Coaching
This module provides an introduction to coaching practice, including a definition of coaching, its history and roots in psychology, and the differences between coaching and psychotherapy. From there, this module explores the roots of somatic psychology and mindbody coaching. Several practical skills will be introduced, including screening and orientation, inclusion and exclusion criteria, scope of practice, and the art of making referrals. Students will learn how to conduct an intake and engage in client preparation, including motivation, readiness, informed consent, and clarification of roles. Attending to diverse personal, cultural, and social experiences/identities in mindbody coaching will be highlighted.
Module 2: Fundamental Mind-Body Coaching Skills
This module covers basic coaching skills, including practitioner readiness and awareness of power dynamics in the coaching relationship. From there, students will learn how to establish a coaching alliance, develop listening skills, and co-create a coaching plan with their clients. A basic session template will be introduced that includes a 10-session arc and how to use a meta-map framework of sensing, feeling, embodied meaning-making, action, and integration within each session. Other coaching skills covered in this module include helping clients identify issues and set goals and how to support clients in creating new habits and routines and maintaining a positive lifestyle. Tracking client progress and accountability will also be addressed.
Module 3: Assessment in Mind-Body Coaching
This module introduces students to a range of mind-body assessment tools and strategies, including identifying client strengths and core values, observing nonverbal communication and movement qualities, and working with body stories and body maps. Students will then learn how to integrate assessment results into the coaching process.
Module 4: Mind-Body Coaching Interventions I
This module covers working individuals in relation to emotions, breath, voice, movement, and touch. Students will be introduced to embodied narratives and inner dialogues as well as embodied retroflection and introjection.
Module 5: Mind-Body Coaching Interventions II
This module helps student coaches further develop their skills in identifying somatic and cognitive patterns and facilitating change. This includes how to work with clients in integrating tensions, making decisions, identifying conditioned tendencies, and creating somatic openings. Students will also acquire skills in working with “resistance” and obstacles in their clients, navigating boundaries, and embodying complexity.
Module 6: Mind-Body Coaching Approaches to Stress, Resilience & Trauma
This module covers embodied stress release and resilience, trauma-informed coaching, and working with clients in crisis. Students will also develop practitioner skills for working with power and privilege in the coaching relationship, learn about navigating different social locations between coach and client, and develop strategies for supporting clients in navigating oppressive social dynamics.
Module 7: Advanced Mind-Body Coaching Skills & Integration
In this module, students will develop skills in working with conflict and learn somatic processes and practices to develop their capacity for generative conflict. We return to the mind-body cycle of changes and provide an opportunity for deeper integration of skills as well as introduce students to working with body norms and body image in mind-body coaching.
Module 8: Pre-Recordings
These pre-recorded sessions will address several important topics, including the business skills needed to manage a successful practice and executive coaching skills for individuals and organizations.
The Embody Lab’s
Mind-Body Coaching Cycle of Change
Our Mind-Body Coaching program will introduce you to a unique and powerful model of transformative change. This model is exclusive to this program and draws on the collective wisdom of our esteemed faculty, including Richard Strozzi-Heckler, Staci K. Haines, Dr. Rae Johnson, Kai Cheng Thom, Manuela Mischke-Reeds, Tesfaye Tekelu, Justin Michael-Williams, and Dr. Scott Lyons.
The MindBody Coaching Cycle of Change represents a proven process that you’ll learn to facilitate with clients during a session.
AS MIND-BODY COACHES, OUR AIM IS EMBODIED TRANSFORMATION
Mind-Body coaching is about transforming our embodiment to be aligned with what we care about, our values, and purpose so that we can be, act, and relate from this place.
WHERE WE START
Purpose/ Longing: You’ll discover how to help your clients identify their goals or intentions for their work with you. These questions include: What do you want? What do you care about? Who do you want to become? How do you want to belong? What are you here for (purpose)?
The Five-Phase Cycle of Change: You’ll discover how to facilitate a powerful five phase cycle of change that includes 1) awareness, 2) sensing/feeling, 3) expression, 4) embodied meaning-making, and 5) action and integration.
THE CYCLE OF CHANGE
You will also learn how to identify where in this cycle your clients might be stuck or avoiding, as well as develop insight into your own processing preferences and challenges.
We’ll explore where clients like to begin, where they skip over, the places clients get stuck, and how this translates to their everyday life.
THE FIVE STAGES
Embodied Awareness - This first stage of the cycle invites clients to notice what they’re aware of in their body in the present moment, and to notice how and what they attend to.
Sensing/Feeling - The second stage of the cycle offers an invitation to connect with the sensations and feelings rather than just observe or notice them.
Expression/Articulation - The third stage of the cycle serves as an invitation to follow embodied impulses toward expression, mobilization, and transformation.
Embodied Insight - The fourth stage invites coaching clients to consider what meanings emerge from their embodied experience, and supports them to listen for meaning that arises from the body.
Action/Integration - The final stage of the cycle invites clients to act on their embodied insights and to integrate what they’ve learned into everyday life.
The Mind-Body Coaching Cycle of Change is exclusive to The Embody Labs’ Mind-Body Coaching Program. Enroll today and learn this powerful coaching tool to enhance your coaching practice and help your clients actualize their goals to live a more fulfilled, transformed life.
